Hi
I have not had the need to post here for some time as I am finally debt free, but read your post with interest and just want to wish you the best of luck. Although I am DV trained, I have chosen to follow another route, and have had to make use of alot of the support etc out there for some of my clients.
I can wholeheartedly recommend, freecycle/freegle for bits, alot are good quality and are great for a stopgap, quality may be so good that it is a long stopgap! One of my clients has been so grateful for what I have managed to get for them and to the donor.
I am glad that you want to get back to work, bear in mind that this may not happen as quickly as you like (hopefully it will), so use this healing time build yourself back up to the strong person you know you are, benefit from the very helpful advice which I know will be given freely (pardon the pun) by others here and pass on the benefit of your experience to others who will join.
Good luck in your futureA smile costs little but creates much0 -
CBHM, well done for getting to this stage, it must have been very difficult to take the plunge but you obviously did the right thing. As far as getting all the furniture etc for your new home is concerned, I would just say don't be in a hurry to get everything all at once. It really does not matter if you have to sleep on a mattress on the floor for the next few weeks while you save up for a bed or find one for free. Take your time and get just one thing at a time as and when you find it/can afford it. You have a new home, a new start, and can now take pleasure in finding all the bits you need to put your stamp on the place. And if you are spending your nights on a mattress/camp bed or whatever, one thing I am sure of - you will still be getting far better nights' sleeps than you ever did in your old life! One life - your life - live it!0

Good luck, i hope everything works out for you.!!0

What a story! I think that you are already a survivor and you should be so proud of yourself.
In terms of frugal eating, two items of kitchenware I couldnt live without are my slow cooker and a stick blender ( I think mine is a tesco value one which works fine). During the week I'll save up my broccoli ends, potato peelings, oniony bits, whatever kind of veg scraps you produce naturally. On a sunday I cook them down in the slowcooker with a potato and some herbs or what not. Then blend them, and voila a large amount of soup for pennies!Aim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!Saved = 100% on 03/07/12 :j0 -
Hope you will be very happy in your new home.
Start to enjoy your new life and I hope you will get a new job soon.
Take care X0 -

Hi and thank you once again for the support you have shown me.
In response to the above post, I have all my basics pretty much covered, a cooker, fridge and a bed, am going to swap a settee I had that wouldnt go in the cottage doors the other day and I enjoyed my day out at IKEA, I could have gone daft but me and my trusty list and kept it reasonable.
I got a set of cutlery for 4, 4 mugs, plates some storage containers and then I went to a large Tesco in the town and bought there value line tool set and a mixing bowl, measuring jug so Im all tooled (scuse the pun) for the kitchen just need to get a couple of pans etc then i can do my signature dish, spag bol :rotfl:
I also managed to get into a couple of charity shops, the prices didnt seem charitable:eek:i but found a couple of old pyrex casserole things and a tea pot:T,
Checked the computer and had gotten a message back from my freecycle request for some bedding and now am the proud owner of 2 sets of lovley curtains a curtain rail and all the fittings and 2 sets of bedding, now need to buy a couple of pillows then thats the bedroom sorted.
Just a couple of towels and t towels and Im there, fully kitted out with basics and only spent £74 of my £100 budget so now can look to buy some basics for the food cupboard and do a meal plan.
Many thanks and i will look out to see if there is a local credit union in this area thats a brill suggestion..
CBHM xThis is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life.0 -
Sounds like you have had a very successful day all round CBMH.
Well done on the freecycle success - sometimes it can take ages to be successful in having anything gifted as there can be such a lot of people asking for things.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
