Sealey and Siegen Spanners

I needed a set of jumbo combination spanners for work and ordered these yesterday,
http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Combination-Wrench-Set-12pc-Jumbo-Metric-Sealey-S0403
good price and site seems good but they only mention Sealey on the description, a bit later I was looking at the Sealey site and realised the ones I've bought are their budget brand Siegen, did some googling and found good and bad reviews for the brand, bad ones mainly for power tools

can anyone set my mind at rest that these spanners will stand up to frequent use

i've never heard of siegen, but i wouldn't rate sealey any way... sealey power tools are very poor quality.

what about teng tools? they are a good compromise in terms of price/quality.

I thought for spanners rather than power tools the sealey brand looked ok, seigen is sealeys own budget brand
would like to change now but order already processed and I needed them for tuesday
only other alternative is Halfords premium in those sizes and they are twice the price
  • never heared or the other brand and sealey power tools are over priced bag of crud.

i sold loads of laser tools to the trade, when i was working in a motor factor and rarely heared bad review feedback. sealey well we did sell them via spec order but not stock them, and in my experience it was a very very rare accurance we would get asked to order any for the trade/public unless that tool/kit was sealey application tool only. it was too expensive to buy the tools to stock on the shelf while we didnt sell many at all so good buisness practace there.

don't worry! no one will laugh at you for owning sealey spanners. they are just a set of drop-forged CV spanners. They will probably be exactly the same quality that you could get for £10 or £20, from ebay.

most of halfords stuff is probably run-of-the-mill. but i did hear that halfords sells a very good quality Pro range of tools which others rave about, but i've never used them. they didn't sound very cheap though.

What work involves the use of spanners of 20mm+ ?

p.s. good luck with the new job!

    thanks everyone
I emailed the site and asked to cancel and actually got a personal reply back saying ok

I wouldn't have minded them being sealey as it looked like on the page, but they're not they are siegen which is a company sealey bought out and reviews are not good

decided to go with Halfords Pro range which will only cost me extra £35 as no delivery charges and lifetime guarantee too

the job is stripping down and rebuilding trucks :D

I have par-x spanners. They are fine.

Par-X is the lowend Snap-On stuff.???

I started out at 16 and in college with Sealey stuff.... Still have bits of Sealey but the Bulk of my gear is Teng & Halfrods Pro and the odd car boot/ebay cheapy Snap-On thrown in.

I have a Siegen/Sealey MiG welder (130Amp) and while it's not brilliant when using the thicker welding wire, due to the cheap sheathing in the feed hose, it hasn't broken down after 3 years.

    'Tis this one: http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/MiniMIG-Welder-130Amp-230V-Sealey-S0771

I also had trouble with justoffbase. They advertised a Sealey calibrated torque wrench and sent a cheaper Siegen uncalibrated wrench. When I complained, they tried to make out what I had was the same thing. Then they agreed to refund (I assume they didn't even have the advertised Sealey as they didn't offer an exchange); then when they had collected the wrench (I had to wait in all day !) they said they would not give me a refund but I could have the same wrench redelivered !!! What the !? Luckily I had bought it from Amazon so claimed the refund from Amazon. Seems like this Siegen substituting for Sealey is a scam perpetrated by justoffbase; be warned. I hope you get your refund but be prepared for an uphill struggle.
