    Hello ms_ora

I like holidays in the Aviemore area because it's a great base for wildlife. Have a look at this thread (in the Scotland board) for details of where to see dolphins, osprey etc:

Planning a hol in Scotland and like wildlife?

On my holiday this year I saw bottlenose dolphins, red squirrel, red grouse, ospreys, pine martin, badgers and crossbills.

    Have a lovely holiday.

    Regards

    Nile

    Hi Nile

Many thanks for recommending a good place to visit and posting a link for Scotland. This will certainly go a long way in planning my trip.:T

    Hi

We've just come back from here:

    http://www.greatglenlodges.co.uk/

Can certainly recommend it. The lodges, location and owners are lovely. There's a floating pub within walking distance! It's about 10 miles from Fort Augustus.

There are plenty of other lodges between Fort William and Inverness if this place doesn't suit you.

I live about 5 miles from rosemarking and i do have to say its amazing, the beach in the summer is so good and you mentioned about teh fairy glen. Yep thats awesome. As a child i was told thats were the tooth fairy lived lol.

Yep, i would personally go for fort augustus, there is plenty of lodges and accomadation nearby. Visit drumnahdrochit,, fort william and inverness and of course THE BLACK ISLE - The black isle is one of the best places in the highlands. AMAZING SCENERY. nice little villages and great places to eat, and rosemarking is right in the middle of it.

Wow !! What a a fascinating description of Highlands scenery !! Just can't wait to go to Highlands...

    Cheers

Next time I want to viist the Bealach na Bà Pass to Applecross for the legendary dangerous road!

I did that on my own a few years ago and when I got to the top seriously considered calling mountain rescue for an airlift because I really couldn't face the journey down.:rotfl:(you can only stop at the top, it's single track, hair pin bends and almost vertical). :rotfl: Well worth it to get to the Applecross Inn for dinner and one of the best B&Bs ever is just outside Applecross http://www.applecrossaccommodation.com/

This is where we stay http://www.holidayardnamurchan.co.uk/ It's wonderful. Bit remote so not the kind of place if you want to sightsee. However if you want beautiful empty beaches, long walks, absolutely no light pollution so the starriest skies, and very dog friendly it's perfect. We usually see otters, eagles, pine martens etc as well as dozens of tame deer. We're going end of the month and I can't wait to escape to perfect peace :)
