OSX Event Viewer or Event Log?

Hi,
I decided to invest in an appropriately pricey 27" imac to replace my less reliable Dell, Windows 7 system.
But to be honest, for the money, the iMac has not delivered.
So far, the mouse and keyboard have frozen about 4/5 times. The only way to un-freeze is to pull the power plug.
And the system has turned off unexpectedly twice, resulting in me loosing anything that I had opened.
I was wondering if any of you forum users are a little more experienced in OSX than I am and if so, is there any where I can view event logs specific to these unexpected shutdowns or keyboard and mouse freezes?
If not, I am going to have no choice but to get in touch with Apple and have them take a look at it. - only had it for a week!

Thanks, that's really useful. I saw it and assumed it was a console as in linux console (like cmd on Windows), so didn't even click on it. Its called Terminal in OSX.
I am having a check through now.
Thanks

Doesn't sound right at all, sounds like a defective machine. My advice, don't even bother looking into it yourself, take it straight to an Apple store (or place of purchase if you are not near an Apple store) and have it looked it there.
If you can reasonably make it to an Apple store though I very much recommend doing so as they will deal with it right there in store. (another retailer may send it off to Apple which can take longer)0 -

Thanks for all of your help.
I called Apple Care this morning - due to being so new it is covered under their telephone support.
They wanted me to just run through a few things whilst on the phone, but I can't as the iMac is back at home. I am going to give them a call when I am back from work.
Thanks again for your help and suggestions :money:0
