Junk in Windows 7 start-up?

Using Piriform CCleaner I have disabled 6 things that were in my laptops startup to try to stop things slowing my computer down. There are still 12 things in the startup though which are:
- swg (something to do with Google, can I disable this?)
- EPSON PX720WD series (does my printer need this in startup?)
- EPSON970019F (does my printer need this in startup?)
- LManager (what's this?)
- avast5 (my anti-virus)
- EEventManager (a third printer program in start-up, needed?)
- RtHDVCpl (audio so I think it needs to be there)
- HotKeysCmds (something Windows needs?)
- Persistence (what is this?)
- SynTPEnh (something to do with touch pad?)
- Acer ePower management (I suppose it is needed)
It's worth having a look at the start-up once in a while I think.

My thoughts - other people's may vary!
You can disable swg, but it will always come back unless you disable a specific service and maybe a couple of scheduled tasks...
You can probably disable the Epson stuff - you'll soon find out if you need it!
Leave the audio and touch-pad stuff enabled.
HotKeyCmd and Persistence are Intel things that I got rid of ages ago.
Don't know about LManager or EEventManager - try Googling!0 -
I used startuplite to clear the junk on my win7

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/startupliteStartUpLite provides a safe, easy, and efficient way to eliminate unnecessary applications that start when you turn on your computer.
By disabling or removing unnecessary entries, StartUpLite can dramatically shorten your startup time with just a few clicks of the mouse. Stop waiting and start computing.0 -
the printer stuff and the audio control panel can both be disabled - unless you want to keep playing with the audio properties

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Disable it all except Avast, then add back in if something doesn't work. Nothing there that will prevent the computer from booting and running.
re. the printer stuff, I've come across a Samsung laser AIO that needed software running for the scanner to work, it was easier to re-enable it for the non-techie.Move along, nothing to see.0
