Hello,
I am the founder of a non profit guinea pig rescue based in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
We have only been running for 5 months and already are very busy with both rescuing and rehoming. We are not registered but run by a constitution.
So far we have recieved tremendous support, we have been featured in a regional newspaper and a local one and have a very active facebook page with supporters.
We are looking for people to help support us with fundraising and monthly donations. We have many things to achieve with our setuip before winter and need to raise the funds to do so. We also have many aspirations to raise awareness etc on ownership not just with guinea pigs but with ALL animals.
We do visit events and have started to do childrens parties, visit schools, disabled groups and also residential homes. We know the importance of education and therapy with animals and this is a big part of our organisation.
Anyway thats a bit about us...... now my questions, I would be so greatful if nyone felt they would like to answert them....
*If you donate monthly to a charity what was it that prompted you to donate to that particular one?
*If you have done fundraising events or sport event (ie run a marathon etc) for charity what prompted you to choose that one?
Can you offer us any advice?
Our name is bramleycaviesrescue if anyone would like to take a look at us in more detail.
Thank you

As a rule I would not donate money monthly to a charity - I am happy to give one off donations if I feel strongly enough about the cause though, which has usually been highlighted as a news story(but not always)
I do fundraising events for a registered charity-what prompted me was the fact that the charity was a lifeline when a member of my family was diagnosed with an illness that the charity is concerned with.
I would think that to raise funds it is usually done by someone local who knows you/what work you do
Has directly or indirectly been helped by you
Has read a 'horror' story of cruelty and how you came to the rescue
Have had a look at your site, looks like you did pretty well at Harewood
As for Chesney-adorable(it is a good job I destroyed all my cages and runs after my last boy was put to sleep otherwise I would be driving up to you!!
Good luck with your venture0
