Problems setting up Direct Debits

I seem to be having trouble setting up direct debits on my BOS debit card.

I went online a few months ago to set up a direct debit for my Council Tax and was later told it didn't go through.

And i'm just now trying to switch gas/elec supplier on Energyhelpline.com and when i put in bank details it says "the sort code and account number combination are invalid or your account doesn't allow direct debits".

Just phoned the bank who confirmed my account does allow direct debits. The only thing they could think of was that it could be a new sort code that the comparison site doesn't recognise.

Ring BOS and ask the question.

you can't set up a direct debit to a debit card only to a current account although you can set up a recurring payment

Are you entering your 8 digit account number, not card number?
