to smeg or not to smeg

Options
I am looking to buy a dual fuel (lpg) cooker and think the smeg (SUK62MBL5) looks the best and most energy efficient in my price range but reviews are wildly mixed regarding this company's reliability. Any experience of smeg cookers greatly appreciated or good alternatives...

I have an aversion to plastic knobs (no smirking) smeg seem to be one of the few to have metal ones.
(i posted this in another section too as I wasn't sure where to put it)

We have a Smeg cooker - I'm not that impressed. At the moment the cooker has not light because the bulb went and I cant find one that is small enough for the glass cover to fit over it.
  • Hi, thanks for your reply. Can I ask which model do you have? How long have you had it? It is hard to get a feel for reliability with cookers as reviews seem so wildly varied.

To be honest I couldn't tell you - it was here when we moved in but I'd say its getting on for 10 years old. I wouldn't say its bad but Smeg do seem to sell their products at a premium and I'm struggling to see how this is justified.

Smeg always over priced but they do have stylish looks and are iconic. The best price I can find for your model is £667 from BHS Direct - link here.
  • Thanks, that seems quite competitive for a smeg.
