I would sell up now, pay off debts, move into a nice rented property and then retire (or cut down) straight away. If you retired now and had the £110k of equity from your house, could you afford rent and a decent standard of living on your pensions?

If you have no-one to leave the house to I don't see the point of tying all your money up in a property and then having to live hand to mouth and work past retirement age. If it was me I would make sure I spent every penny of the money and enjoyed it while I could. Go on long holidays before your wife's arthritis gets worse, treat yourself to a nice car, a motorhome even. Do it now.

Please don't leave your lifetime's earnings to the government!
