Is there a lot of people in debt? I am just asking if you are all here just to help or if you are in the same situation as me? At the moment I feel like its just us and we're fighting against the world. I know its going to take a long time tp pay off all the debts but at least i know there is support here. Do you all get paid for doing this? You should do. I'm addicated now so you'll all be sick of me and my questions in a while but please feel free to tell me if I am a pain. Can't believe that people really want to help, thank you all so much xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0

Hi Weller welcome to MSE
As DDDebt said most of us here are in the same boat, maybe a few steps further along the path to becoming hopefully debtfree, there are some who have made it and others who have knowledge to share of how the creditors and banks work..Many of the people who have become debtfree hang around to help others so please don't feel you're alone. There's usually someone around on this part of MSE even at weird times of the night as some work nights and others can't sleep!!!! Do keep posting and when you feel up to it take a look at some of our success stories at the top of the page

Hello Weller, yes most of us are in a similar situation so you are among friends. Payplan organised mine for me in November and in a very short space of time I went from tearing my hair out to feeling in control. The pack they sent me was, A budget plan for all my necessary expenditure (included how much I should have for food, dental, car etc. so that I knew which 'pot' to put my money. Then they worked out what I had left to pay creditors they worked out the pro rata payments and wrote letters to each of them-sent to me to post to everyone. I sent them out with a first payment and every one accepted!!! It was so painless.I got myself a cardboard box to keep everything in addresses etc, wrote up balances and payments in a book so that I can watch the balances go down.Sent out all payments on the same day of each month so that I can forget about them for the rest of the month.
I now just get out my box once a month and pay everyone. The budget money gets put into the building society for things that I have to save for and left in the current account for shopping and direct debits for the essential bills. It works for me and instead of being in a constant muddle and worrying about bills it is all organised----and this from the (previously) most disorganised person in the world, and perversly I actually enjoy doing it!!Mutual Supporters club member (Nov 2006)
