Barclays And PayPal

Cant find a relevant forum area for this question but will hopefully find an answer here.

I'm just opening a new paypal account with my new barclays account.
I entered my card details on paypal.
I entered my email.
I confirmed email address.
I add bank to do main verification.
When the direct debit page appears what am i supposed to put for the Barclays Bank PLC address?
google-ing "Barclays Bank PLC address" returns lots of diffent addresses for branches all over britain.
I dont think its asking for a local branch though.

Your sort code ( 20-__-__ ) will tell you the address of the branch you need. Just a simple google search on that will bring up the address that you need.

If you have a cheque book the address will be printed on each cheque.

googe-ling my sort code gives this address.....

    LINCOLN
    Leicestershire, LE87 2BB, Phone: (845) 7555555,
    Leicester
    England

This is not a normal address.
The paypal page for reviewing direct debit details asks for .....

    Address line 1
    Address line 2
    Town/City
    County
    Postcode

Also I live in a town near lincoln and lincoln is in lincolnshire not Leicestershire
I do not have a check book and opted for online statements.

Yes its doing my head in
  • Banks these days don't have old style "branch addresses" to write to.
I know my branch's real address...but the address listed to write to on cheque books and statements etc is a PO Box type of address at another town.
Similarly when I fill in DDebit forms on the internet with my sort code it comes up with a centralised type PO box type address and not my real branch's address.

Branches clearly no longer deal with communication - its all sent to a centralised local area office.
I was going to suggest you look at any letters/statements you have from the bank to see if it gives an address for communication on it.

Actually (and just for you) I've just found my local Barclays branch by going to the barclays web site. Type branches in the "ask a question box" and in the list of results is how to find the address of local branch - follow the instructions to find the branch local to your post code - it actually gives addresses!

Right its 11 am so I'm off to have my cup of coffee........
