EHIC for a child????

Does anyone know if I need an EHIC card for my 8 month old daughter.

I've just looked at renewing mine & my husbands but the on line form asks you to confirm you are over 16, clearly she's not!!

If I need one for the baby where do I apply?

Thanks

From a quick look it says the "main applicant" should be 16 or over, meaning someone under 16 cannot apply for themselves, a parent has to do it.

You do need one for the baby, and I'm pretty sure I had them for my kids when they were under 16.

I just renewed ours a month ago and my 13 year old has his own, same as last time.

If I recall correctly you add the details of the child in during the application for the parent and then each gets a card.

that's right, I did this a month ago too. The cards came through really quickly, too.

How are you meant to get one for a newborn baby? My husband and I already had one and it says you can only renew it in it's final six months (which is several years away). In the end I just applied for a completely new one, which did work, but I'm not sure I did the right thing as I now have two EHIC for myself!!

I did that too as my OH didn't have one either and I had lost mine. Hopefully we won't need to find out!

Hi i already had one but we needed one for the baby, i had to apply for a new one for myself and then i could apply for the baby, so i now have 2 valid ones, stupid system. Make sure you go through the nhs website and don't pay....i googled first and lots of companies charge.

i never applied for a new one for me just for my baby you don't need to get a new one to get a baby card

it takes your details and then says you already have one and dont need to renew yet but there is an option to add a dependant card you go through that an order your babies card
