How do you get stains out of a carpet ? Can you use stain devil ?

a really cheap and effective way is Avon bubble bath, you literally dab a bit on a damp cloth and work it in, the stain disappears0

do you know what the stains are? For example if it's wine I (or you) could search for a wine stain thread?
there is a general carpet stain thread with some ideas?
