Nuttymummy...firstly I haven't got a cake anything like any of these!! I've bought waitrose plain white ones, got some ribbon, some silk flowers from ebay. My concession to the zoo thing has been some little animal faces to go round the edges of the cake
3 and a half weeks now  but mostly got everything sorted. Saw Jane the other week when we went for a tasting and then been e-mailing to sort out lots of little details. We go on the Thursday 13th to take everything over and do all the final bits. She's been really helpful...but yes she is posh lol. The food was gorgeous...but we're doing it different to you. We're having a full sit down wedding breakfast as we're not there for the evening...so also no safari picsMy friend's daughter had her wedding there in June...afternoon tea then the BBQ in the evening. She said it was fantastic and all the staff were brilliant.
I'll report back afterwards and let you know...am so excited now. Though I think half my guests will leave us as there's the cheetah cubs there now. Did you see them? Soooo adorable!0 -
LOL ellay, i still have no idea what my cake is going to be.....but LOADS of people getting married there always have the zoo themed cake....so i want something different to that....but not normal LOL
OOO not long to go. Im SOOOO excited for you! i can remember e-mailing you right at the beginning of the year and ive been thinking about your wedding ever since! im so excited to see pictures
you went for a tasting? wow that sounds goodif you dont mind me asking, what did you have? I know our menu is entirely different (we are having afternoon tea and bbq) but the bbq menu went from potato wedges, stuffed peppers, kebabs (something we ALL love) to fancy stuff like truffled eggs, fish parcel things, goats cheese.....and that not really my thing! im hoping we can have something abit more 'common' but without upsetting them! LOL
no i didnt see the cheetah cubs! to be honest i dont think we are going to get much time to see any of the animals on the day as we will be so busy with photos etc and i can tell its just going to so SO fast!
Ive been feeling a little down since the visit really, as we MAY have wanted a photobooth (nothing set in stone yet) but she said they are bulky and would spoil he look of the manor, and the place she was thinking of putting it would block out the stained glass window.
she did say if thats what we wanted we could have it, but still when someone says something like that it kinda puts a downer on things. i mean the manor is LOVELY, but we didnt choose to get married there because of that, we chose to get married there as it was the first place we went for a day out as a couple (date if you like!) and i love the thought of visiting each year on our anniversary as a tradition.
Im just worried that shes not going to understand how i want the wedding. i wanted it fun, and totally informal, whereas i think shes quite posh and is expecting elegant bride, roses, scones, shes going to get the opposite with a bride in sneakers, blow up monkeys and facepaintingLOL

I'm not expecting to see much of the animals on the day but we're members so we pop in all the time...often just drop in for an hour at the end of day shopping in Chester.
We had to ask for the tasting, it wasn't offered, but we only have one choice (plus veggie) so we felt we needed to try to make our minds up between a couple of the less simple choices. We've ended up going with seared lamb fillets which were gorgeous and I don't usually eat lamb and I'm not keen on pink meat but it was beautiful. The veggie option is a tagliatelle in broccoli, wild mushroom and cheddar sauce. We've got vegetable soup as starter and choc gateau for dessert. The tasting was great - we assumed we'd be in the library which is the main dining room, there were just a few other people eating there when we arrived. But instead they set a table out all posh just for us in the boardroom - felt like proper VIPs lol
I wouldn't worry too much about yours not being the wedding they're expecting...from what my friend said of her daughter's wedding the staff did everything to make sure the day went just as they wanted it. Hers was quite informal - very English garden tea atmosphere and she said the whoile day was perfect. It seems that it won't be Jane that's actually in charge on the day but we'll have one of the other staff to oversee everything. I think Jane's more organising management rather than hands on during the weddings.
We see the registrar on Saturday at 12 noon....exactly 3 weeks before our wedding!!!!!0 -
ooo sounds lovely! im loving the tagliatelle dish!
They had a table set out in the boardroom too when i was there, very posh! but we sat on a few seats infront of the fire to go through a few questions. I really felt like we had just wasted her time making a meeting as we were in and out again in 10 minutes. I wanted another nosey around the place to see where the dj would be, where the dancefloor was etc and we just got whisked round. O well, maybe it was just an off day and hopefully ill enjoy more on my next visit next year with the photographer.
English garden tea sounds right up Janes street though, very elegant, cups of tea, scones etc. sounds lovely! Just not exactly what we r having LOL
Did you have to make an appointment to see registrar 3 weeks before? We have paid deposit for ours but have no idea how the actual ceremony part is going to go!
O thats nice to hear that some of the staff take over at the wedding, theres was one girl working there who seemed really nice and chatty maybe she will understand what sort of wedding i want lol
ooooo 3 weeks to go on Saturday! are you going on a honeymoon? just so i know how long your going to keep us all in suspense with the pictures LOL xxx:dance:

Have you given notice at your local registrar yet - you must have been able to do that from a couple of weeks ago. Once you've done that they should send the stuff onto Chester registrar (unless you do that yourself - we got a choice and let them do it). Then you get a welcome pack from Chester one. After that it goes quiet...I think I may have actually called them in the end to make sure our appointment with them wasn't a weekday as I can't get more time off work. They do have some Saturday appointments so we're going this coming Saturday.
Yes we are going on honeymoon but not til the Monday so I'm hoping I may get some friends pics before I go. If nothing else Linda will have one of me in the dress so I'll cadge one from herI've got a pic on my phone and it is so hard not go round showing everyone!!! But it may be a while before I get the proper ones...and like I said, don't be expecting loads of us and animals, think it'll be the roman gardens, the chinese bridge garden, but I'm hoping the red pandas come out to play as they're right over there too and they're my favourite animal there
