Audiobook swaps

Hi there, didn't quite know where to put this so please move if it is in the wrong place mods :o

Right i LOVE books, I'll read anything really but have to get into them in the first couple of chapters, however i tend to get so into them that i tend to neglect important things like housework or feeding the family  (joke by he way)

So i discovered audio books by accident and i am totally hooked, i can do my housework, cook, clean, take the dog out etc. and still get into a really good read.

Me and a few friends have got into them at work (Mainly by me bullying them at the beginning) and they also love them and we now have a swap club, I have loads and loads of them.
:D
So my idea was that if anyone else fancies any of them or has any that they want to swap could we do it on here?

    Hi Cullumpster,

Me too! they are great. I listen on my commute.

    Best invention ever.

    :D

In what format do you swap them? I get mine from www .audible. co. uk - so i am not sure if you are allowed to swap them?

PM me with the details.... if thats ok
Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...

i just usually put them on a flash drive and swap them like that or for example i have one that i have just finished that was just 1 file so i just blue-toothed it to my friend this morning as i really enjoyed it. Tess Gerritsen vanish.

I'm not quite sure how i would do it to be fair i hadn't thought that far forward haha.

Could we PM each other and email them?? not sure how it would work

I get mine of iTunes these days - much cheaper than on CD.

Be careful of sharing via email and flash drives, I am sure you will be breaking some sort of copyright laws :(

really? but surely its the same as I borrow the book from the library, I take it back and my friend then takes it out. or I extend the library time for another week, give it to my friend to read, and then ask her to return it for me when she's finished.

The library purchases a copy of the book and so some of this cost goes to the author.

Also, for each book issue from a library the author gets a payment. Also, if you borrow a book and then lend it to a friend and she / he loses the book the Library will still charge you for a replacement copy as it is on your ticket and your responsibility. Ideally the friend should take out the item on her own card, thus increasing the issue and borrower numbers for the library thus making the library more viable and also allowing another payment for the author.

Also, most libraries have audio books to lend for free.

hmm okay yes true u shouldn't ask friends to take them back, I can see that one but if then I've brought a book, not full price, in a sale or from a car boot, enjoy it and then give it to all of my friends to read cause I enjoyed it, am I breaking three law by doing it?

I think the issue is that with a physical book there is only one copy in circulation at any one time. It is much easier to copy electronic formats.....

I am not an expert on copyright law but it just seems wrong to be copying electronic books to me, you wouldn't photocopy a hard copy book would you?
