Plenty of armchair ones.
Seriously though, what do you need?0 -
I can suck my teeth and say thats gonna cost you, But the call out charge to cover fuel costs
will most likely be more than your local garage will charge to actually fix it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

For a start, When he started up, Did he retain a part time job? What insurance did he take out? and are you taxed on all profits, or does it go untaxed if it is kept in the company to buy equipment?Quite a bit there I know... and thats just the tip of the iceberg! lol

He started the business up while he was doing a course at college so by the time he finished he had a couple of jobs a week. Im not sure about the insurance ill need to ask him as he deals with the insurances. As far as i am aware he declares all profits and then also declares any equipment he bought (with receipts) usually this will mean you pay less tax as it is an allowance.Baby Numner 4 due 7th May 2016:dance:

You have a choice to be self employed or a ltd company i would have thought, i don't think the insurance is any different to that a normal garage would need apart from insuring your premises.
I know a couple that have bought old AA trucks that had a spec lift and the double cab, they converted the doublecab to store more tools than normally carried in the compartments at the back.
Another possible option is to invest in tyre fittinf equipment aswell if you buy a large lwb van.
I know HiQ easily fit this equipment in the LDV Maxus van.
I would strongly suggest you only get decent tools like Snap-On or Mactools, most MacTools franchises will match the broke it and replce it warranty that the trade get on Snap-On, or at least they did when i was in the trade years ago.
But i expect you already have a lot of decent tools already, i bought loada on weekly payments from the MacTools man, but stupidly sold them many moons ago.
Decent tools are a pain to find these days, especially when the mactools van or snapon van doesn't visit your house once a week, lol.0 -
You can be self employed and have a part time job as well. That depends more on how busy he in, or how much money you need.
Easier to start out as a sole trader at first.
Make sure you declare to the tax man when you start, or they get unhappy.
Insurance is best left to a good broker, they should know what you need, and should ask you the right questions. (Including insurance to test drive the cars afterwards)
Profit is anything you make after all your expenses, so you can't keep it in the company to buy equipment, but rather you have had the expense of buying the equipment.
edit as bigjl posted while I was -
Halfords tools are good with a trade card.
(Vauxhall are good for oil and batteries trade)0
