ipod, notebook or laptop

I want to use Itunes to buy and store my music and play it back through my amp. What in you opinion is the best way to go. I thought about the ipod classic as then I can take it with me in the car etc. However a laptop or notebook would just sit on top of the amp and have a bigger display. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks in advance

personally I would always go for a lappy if you're going to spend a couple of hundred quid, coz it'll ultimately do more :)

If you only want it for music then buy the iPod as like you say you can also play it through your car and it will be cheaper than a laptop

A laptop would be a bit of a pain if you're having to boot / shutdown all the time, plus battery life won't be so great.

I would go for the Ipod Classic, or even a 1st generation 64GB Ipad - around £300-£350 on ebay.

we looked at the ipad but the guy in the shop said he wouldn't recommend them for what we wanted as the storage isn't big enough. I thought the storage wouldn't be a problem if you were keeping the music on itunes as its not stored on the device. Am I right in thinking this.

You can stream from your PC to your Ipad. See here: http://www.sysgear.org/2011/05/how-to-stream-to-ipad/.

Just set it up on mine and worked no problem, just need a PC and a wireless network.

Plus you could just get the 16GB at around £275. I don't think any netbook would beat the Ipad for ease of use or flexibility in this situation

your itunes library is stored on your local computer, so yes, storage will become an issue....

A computer with an external DAC.

Storage wouldn't be an issue if he was streaming to his iPad he could store as much music as his PC could hold.
