Halifax - Disgusting customer service!

Well, due to past credit problems I have an Easycash account with the terrible Visa Electron card (which I have been happy with I suppose - until now). I went into my local (3.5 miles away) branch as they moved away from my town to put in some cash.
I got looked at like a piece of dirt when I slid the cash and the card to the Cashier, she then looked at me and said 'Do you know this is just a basic account' I said 'Yes I have no other choice due to past credit problems'. She then replied 'Well why don't you apply for a full account' I then said 'Because like I said I have past credit problems which I am slowly in progress of repairing - I will apply for a full account when I am good and ready and when there is a chance of acceptance'. She turned and smirked at her Cashier Colleague who looked at me and said you can't put your money in here over ther counter with that account - 'GO TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK'. No manners - nothing.
I am absolutely disgusted with how I have been treated, both as a person and a customer, just because of my account type.
I'm sorry about the rant, but I am a customer and feel like taking some sort of action but not sure what exactly. Has anyone else had any form of terrible service with a Basic Account? There was about 10 people behind me who were looking at me like S@#T because of this and I felt very embarrased...:mad::mad:
Until now I have had no problem with the Account or service but this has done it for me.

Write them a complaint letter. Details of how to contact them below.

Try to keep it short and succinct - a factual account of the events in the branch, then you can talk about how the cashier's behaviour made you feel, especially if you felt ashamed and humiliated in front of all the other customers. Hopefully they'll give you a token payment of compensation.0 -

I hope they don't. The OP hasn't lost anything financially so why should they receive financial compensation?0 -

I have that account when I had adverse credit and stoped using the account years ago because of the way that halifax treat people with that account. The cardcash account and the Easycash account are for people with low credit scores and adverse credit.
I have a lloyds cash account which comes with a proper visa debit card however they do treat you the same way as Halifax so I just forgot about Lloyds and Halifax opened new full account with another bank without any problems
It very hard to get a basic account upgraded so if you have no defaults or CCJ just apply for new full account with another bank and forget about Halifax.0 -
Do you lot work for banks or something? There wasn't ten people behind me at the time, just one or two, but due to their ignorance, disgusting treatment and time taken to make me look like a criminal for having an Easycash account, people were beginning to queue. I wasn't shouting about my past problems, but when confronted with poor customer service, why shouldn't I explain myself? She was the one trying hard-sell in a rude manner.
No names but some people on here defend for the wrong reasons and answer based on what they see other than putting themselves in my shoes.

Judging by the OP's rant I hardly think it will be a factual account of events, more a one sided opinion as to how he feels hard done by.
Hard done by what? I don't understand. I'm sorry - would you accept being treated like this just depositing cash at the bank you are a customer of? I highly doubt it. I think I am entitled to have a moan so to speak.Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. Terrible
Only 1 person on this thread works for a bank I believe.
The bold bits are all a matter of opinion. If the Halifax employee stated "oh you f***ing dumb b*** why you got that sh*** account?! Get a better one! Or can you not run your own finances properly you thicko!?", then I would agree with you.
However, you have stated that all the Halifax employee said to you was asking why you had the account and perhaps they could upgrade it for you, to me this seems sensible, you've already said you hate the crappy Visa Electron account which I suspect is the norm, so it seems to me the Halifax employee was trying to do you a favour by suggesting you may want to upgrade your account. She isn't psychic, so how was she to know you have problems with controlling your spending?
Then the employee stated you cannot use the machine, which is perfectly legitimate, because you can't, as it says in your T&Cs. -edit- meant to say counter services, not machine, duh.0 -

It up to you who you chose to bank with and I understand what you are saying because I have experience that kind of treatment by Hlaifax and Lloyds when I had adverse credit. I think that you should try and open a new account with Coperative bank because they are nicer to people with adverse credit than Halifax. I know that you are upset but life is so short so please try forget about it and move on.0 -

Excuse me. What do you mean the machine? I went to the Cashier to deposit some money and got told I wasnt allowed to deposit cash at the CASHIER. No - she isn't psychic but there is a way of offering help or advice, if she would of done it in the proper manner I wouldn't of posted what I did. If that is how they try and help customers I would rather keep cash under the bed.Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be.
