Hi Bully, IS, RM, Julie and AH. We are off to North Yorkshire for a week, we're not far from Whitby (love it up there) and then a week at home (and on the allotment!)
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat :D

Been on days out there. They have 199 steps, there is always someone walking up counting them, just in case there is 198 :D

The bench half way people sit on, is a coffin rest for when they used to rest the coffin there, as at the top of the 199 steps is a church and a graveyard

Been in the church when i was at school, all i remember is they had squeaky pews, kind of in a box shape, i dont know how to describe it, like a step into this seating area. and they have a chest/ box made out of a ship wrecked ship :)

They also have shops you can buy Jet in, which is like a hard black stuff, i'm very technical :rotfl: and they make it into jewellery. Also they do the fishing there, and years ago, i dont know if its still there but you can see them bring the fish in, and there is a fish and chip shop near?. Oh and whitby rock :), the hard candy stuff. Im trying to think of what else..... hmm......oh the whale bone!, there is a big whale bone you just walk through. cant remember what else, it may come to me later :D

Hope you have a nice time Jefery :A

Thanks everyone - hoping this week is getting rid of the rubbish weather :D
We always park at the top of the 199 steps and get FD to count them! We've got English Heritage membership this year courtesy of clubcard pints when they were 4X so we will be visiting the Abbey - the audio tour is great especially the kids version :o.
It's Gruesome Weekend & Time Travellers Go….Gruesome on Saturday and Sunday. Sounds interesting.....
I know it's Irish Bully but it reminded me of this: Cockles and Mussels Alive Alive Oh
