I really have tried to look for the answer but feeling a bit thick as I can't find it.. She is on £155'ish a week with no other income and I have put in a DLA claim and hoping for mddle rate care.
Help would be appreciated.

To be honest, I think I would wait till your DLA claim is decided,
How old are you and what is the nature or your disabilitymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
AFAIK, you can't draw Carers' Allowance and State Pension at the same time.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

I am 63 and not sure why you want to know about my disability as question is whether my wife, being on OAP, would get carers on top?
My GP (yes I know they don't decide) has said in recent days that he has seen patients better than me get the middle rate so I am trying to be realistic.0 -

Thanks so much for speedy answer and I just couldn't find a reference to the question but am sure there is a web link I have missed.0 -
She cannot claim CA if she's receiving the state pension but she can have an underlying entitlement which may mean she can get premium payments for some other benefits (such as Council Tax benefit, Housing Benefit) if she's claiming them.

Sorry, I was just thinking that some people on here may have some idea as to whether you would be eligible for DLA, and at which level. often the DLA people ignore what doctors say anyway.
Its getting more and more difficult to get DLA nowadays.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Even though I have a relatively low post count I been studying the forum for ages. Everyone has told me, including CAB on the phone, that DLA is hard to get but after all my reading and having deliberated for many months I have applied. The main reason I did the application is one of my family is involved in such matters and has filled in many claim forms for their job. So far they are used to acheiving an award for their client.
My problem was ignorance feeling I was not disabled but as I have now taken on board disabled in the sense of DLA is not the disabled in the sense I had thought.
So I wil have to wait and see but my GP said he will call me when he gets the paperwork from DWP and invite me in to discuss his proposed answers.0 -
I think your wife might be entitled to get the Carer's Premium of Pension Credit.0
