I was thinking of having a basket of tissues with a sign saying for your tears of joy but thought it a little presumptuous that people would cry just coz I'm getting married.

Hi Sammy and twink, since seeing your idea I have been looking about for tissues and they seem to be about £1.00 a pack on ebay!! Was yours this expensive? Might personalise some glassine envelopes with stickers and ribbon and just buy plain white tissues as a cheaper option. Dont know how it will work, have a few envelopes so may try when I get some tissues. xClixsense since 31.01.16 $122.13 Neo bux since 31.01.16 400 RR $1018.00

We're having a snowflake theme. So I'm makeing most our stationary using a snowflake punch, even our confetti is going to be snowflakes.
We have also rebelled against our familes views that we 'have' to have a traditional wedding cake. Instead we're opting for a cheesecake from
http://www.englishcheesecake.com/
We're still going to have a 3 tier but a mixture of a chocolate cake, fruit cheesecake and vanilla cheeasecake for the top. It's so much more 'us'
As we're only having 21 of us we're secretly booked fireworks for after our wedding breakfast, which we're having in the evening. We haven't told anyone not even my mum and we're very excited about it:j
I think the little touches should reflect your personalitiesTurning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
there are a few things about our wedding that people will say is just "us"
little things like the music as we are signing our register is classical, but if they listen carefully its actually madonna and take that,
my dress is a little unusual with its big cadburys purple bit down the back, the majority of people there wont have ever seen me in any kind of a dress so they will no doubt be expecting somethng a bit different,
we are having a tribute table for all our close friends and family who we would have wanted there but have passed away, we have printed thier pictures out on vellum and will be displaying them in frames with a battery tea light behind them and each picture has a little passage explaining who they are, his grandparents, my best friend etc and a little sign explaining the purpose of the table.
I am also doing something special with my bouquet in that when we hand tie it it will be done in two sections and then tied together, so when its time to throw it i will untie the sections, and throw one half. The next day i will be placing the other half on my best friends grave, she should have been a massive part of our wedding and will be very much missed on the day so i wanted to include her.
we are well known for our cupcakes so us doing our own cake wont be a surprise to anyone,
my friend has her own personalised topper company, shes very good (some of her work has been on tv) and shes doing one of us in our wedding gear, i cant wait to see it... i dont think many of our guests will have seen one thats the spitting image of the bride and groom!
and i know its a bit old hat on here now but i doubt many people will be expecting the sweetie buffet, i think they will say that its "us" though0 -
I just wanted to say thank you Curious George.... When I saw this thread I began to wonder how I could add to our wedding to make it more special and have some 'little touches'. But on reading your post it's made me really smile and relax in a warm glow that actually what we are doing is already special and very us. (Very intimate registry office on the Tuesday followed by a garden party on the Saturday for 50 guests). Things from having individual cheesecakes, to doing everything ourselves, is very us. Even to the point of writing "no speeches allowed" on our invites (which are handmade and lovely even if I do say so myself). I am taking my bouquet to place on my grandma's grave. So really there is already lots of personal and special things we're doing.
(But that doesn't mean to say I'm not on the look out for more ideas lol). 0 -
Love the velum idea Curious george, if you dont mind me asking was it very expensive? lost my parents (have a step dad who brought me up who I call dad, who will be giving me away) and fiance lost his dad so this would be a fantastic thing to do. I am also toying with the idea of setting some animal friendly lanterns away with messages on. Because I am having a late wedding should be lovely once its dark, the castle is on a hill and I think it would be stunning. Lovely ideas everyone, keep them coming xClixsense since 31.01.16 $122.13 Neo bux since 31.01.16 400 RR $1018.00

ha! just thought of another one.... instead of a guest book we are having a signing picture, ive got a big black frame and a bit of white card to fit, we will mark off an area in the middle where eventually our favourite wedding pic will be (in my minds eye its a black and white photo with the confetti picked out in colour... for some reason i really want that pic!) and we bought some black sharpies so everyone can sign it,
i figured a guest book will get hidden away somewhere but i can put that up on the wall and always be reminded of our fantastic day.
Thanks MrsDrink, the garden party is very me too, all bunting and cheesecake...to me that sounds amazing!
Lupyloo, the vellum wasnt too bad, about £3 for 10 sheets at the range, it looks really effective with the light flickering behind it0
