I could do with a virtual 'get on with it' I think.
I've just read Gingernutbizkit's excellent blog/thread and it's just confirmed to me really that I need to get moving.
I am selling a business premises and residential combined. So it's taken two and a half years to sell.
I accepted an offer on 11th March. Found a house to buy - and so did they.
We are due to complete on 24th June. I am going into my soliticitors on Wednesday to sign the contracts for both sale and purchase.
Yet I still don't seem to have enough confidence in the sale/purchase to actually DO anything that can't be easily undone. We already had a storage container, so I have packed up easily not needed stuff (why do I have three trifle sets with six bowls each? I've never used any of them?).
But now it's getting down to the proper packing rather than turfing out junk I've ground to a halt.
It's almost like I don't want to jinx myself.
But if I don't start doing SOMETHING with less than three weeks to go then I'm going to be fairly panicking shortly. Because I have to run the business up to and including the 25th - and wind all that up too.
Really I do need to be doing something. But find myself unable even to make a list to get on with - it just goes blurry in my head and I find myself stressed and confused when I try and focus on it. Mind you, I've been plenty stressed and confused it's been VERY stressful.
Can anyone help me to focus please? Any tips on where to start? Things to remember?

have you exchanged at this point? I couldn't tell by your post - if you haven't, maybe it's that? You haven't got anything set in stone as yet, and that's leading to the feelings of everything still being up in the air?
I would start with one room at a time. Just tell yourself that "today, I will pack up X room", and set yourself that one goal. If you're anything like me, if there is SO much to do, I end up dithering and doing nothing. If I try to break it down into mentally manageable jobs, I actually end up achieving more"Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one's living at it" Einstein 19510 -
We haven't exchanged no. I am due in on Wednesday morning to sign everything - two of the three solicitors say they will be ready to exchange Friday of this week one says they won't.
I need them to be ready friday so I can make my staff redundant with two weeks notice. I don't want to only give them a week.
I read a post from someone who said they had boxes of cables and didn't know what they fitted and daren't throw them away - I am that person too!
I started lists this morning, but things just keep rolling around my head and I can't seem to make any sense of them - then I forget what I wanted to write anyway.0 -
get a professional packing company to do it for you. not as expensive as you think. It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
thanks geoff.
We are moving ourselves - it's only about 9 miles, and OH has a van available to him through his work, with 5 teenagers we have plenty of manpower - so we will be doing the moving of furniture completely ourselves.0
