Sky are shortly going to be using 'tailored advertising', where they momitor waht you watch and show you adverts of products you might be interested in. You can opt out of it if you like. What are other's views on this - is it a good idea, what privacy concerns do you have, etc?

I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

You have been informed about what they plan to do and have the option to opt out. I can't see any problems with that.0

Also, you chose to install a TV system where the digibox is (apparently) storing details of what you watch, and where the digibox is connected to a phone line which can relay those details back to the [STRIKE]Ministry of Information[/STRIKE] Sky Head Office.....
Disconnect your digibox from the phone line or opt out.0 -

the iplayer does exactly the same thing, it takes what you watch and then suggests shows for you to watch that match... i dont think its a bad thing, adverts, now those are my biggest bug bear, if its anything like virgin medias "phorm" type snooping then opt out and never touch it.
btw... doesnt your sky contract say you have to stay connected to the phone line?0 -
It's an invasion of your privacy. Opt out.
IANAL, but ideally it should be opt-in, where the default is that they don't spy on you without your permission.

Exactly - I do not have a problem with that - the NHS could learn a lot off Sky. I'm more interested in what other's thoughts are on being monitored on what you watch, rather than the way ther are being open and transparant about it.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
If it's anything like Anytime, then it won't be anything like what I regularly watch.0
