Ebay scam warning

Oh dear the most common scam of all.
There is virtually nothing at all here the oP can do, I can see now ay out of this. As mentioned above trying to hide from paypal does NOT work as they use some unpleasant tactics to reclaim their money and even have warnings about their use of debt collectors. Get advice on the debt boards here on MSE about what a debt collector can legally do as you will need to be prpeared when they come knocking at your door.
Please sellers, and this applies to all venues including Gumtree and the like, lets keep our wits about us and stay safe out there. These scams only work because a small minority of people still fall for them, if we can stop anyone falling for these then the scammers will have to give up and get a real job.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for the warning OP, but as I have at least half a brain I am not likely to fall for this most obvious and well known scam.0

I cannot see how Paypal can confirm payment then go back on it, saying something about fraud - surely that's their fault and problem?!
I would argue this with them, thanks to them you've given goods to a seller and stand to lose £460 - why should you be out of pocket? They're the bigger fish, I'd let them try to get their money back and if it looks like, somehow, legally they can ask you to repay them - negioate to pay less as they are at fault and can afford to lose, whereas you cannot. Worth a try.0 -

Why should Paypal be out of pocket?!
It's an empathetic stance but the law doesn't view theft differently just because one party has more money than the other! Just because someone 'can afford to lose' doesn't mean they should have to! I like that... imagine reporting a burglary to the local coppers..
"OK, madam. How much is your household income? Oh, OK. Yep, that's too high. We only investigate robberies if you earn less than that. You can afford to lose".It's the same argument people use for shop-lifting - they can afford it; they're insured, etc. Bizarre.

Simple, no one would ever use Paypal if they could send money then never get their money back if the goods didn't turn up.0
