    Dear taxus2010,

You have quite a bit of proof already, birth certificate, photo id eg.student card, work photo id etc. You could apply for co-operative cashminder account or nationwide do basic account. They are the best.go into a branch and book your appointment now.
if it can not be done apply for a prepaid card such as cashplus(www.cashplus.co.uk) or tuxedoeccount t.they can be a very temporary way to get wages paid in until your account is fully operational.I am sure one of the two will accept you as long as your not bankrupt. get your credit file and find out what your details are and start to sort out any debts too.

By the way i did not have a passport until 2 years ago and dont have a driving licence and managed to get the above accounts with 2 ccjs to my name.i am sure that you can too.
    Hope this helps

Smile , The Co-opertive Banks online arm are very good for first time basic accounts with little documentation. http://www.smile.co.uk

You can pay in and withdraw at any Post Office as well as Co-operative Bank branches and usually get a full Visa Debit Card straight away .

Smile don't offer a basic account. All their accounts are credit scored.

The basic account from co op is the cashminder account.

    !

You are wrong because I have been using one for ages . Ok it is a bit better than a basic account with more features but I opened it with a crap credit rating at the time! It was MSE Martins top recommendation for poor credit rating !

Original, paper correspondence from HMRC regarding your tax credits, along with a utility bill should be sufficient to open an account with the RBS Group.

It would be best to go into a branch so that you can get one opened asap.
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

Where do you see this account advertised, and how does one apply ?

The accounts on the website come with an automatic £500 overdraft and a minumum funding of £800 a month.
