Old faithful has died - beyond economic repair
So as its been years since I bought a computer I need all the help I can get!
I just need a base unit as have all monitor, speakers etc. Also needs to be bought on-line.
I really havent a clue what to look for -what make, how much memory etc or what good sites to buy from.
Budget is up to about £350 - dont need anything too fancy (dont game or use it for videos)
Help!

Thanks for the links - I'm even more confused now! I know I want Windows 7 as I have that on my laptop (had xp on the old one) - there seems to be all diferent kinds of Windows 7 - which one is the best? I have no idea about RAM or intel doo-daas (yes, extremely techie-challenged here!)
So off to look at nice pictures of computers but have no idea of whats what.....Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0 -
What is wrong with the old one?
All versions of W7 will do what you want, so go for the cheapest - home basic or home premium are found on most new machines.
ram 2GB upwards is the norm nowadays.
Intel vs amd, both will work, personally I'd go for Intel!!

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
I've always liked the look of these from Dinopc.

If you have a techsavvy friend, Buy the parts and build it yourself, it's not hard, and a lot cheaper for better stuff.
If you want a basic PC thats prebuilt however, Novatech is a good choice, they do what is called "barebones" which usually need a hardrive installing (Very easy)A work in progress.

Thanks
You mentioned that you dont need a monitor in your original post, but the pc world option you linked to includes monitor, which affects the price, so you could get same PC for less..
Do you have any particular brand in mind, and what about a budget?0
