Confusing (to us!) title deed

The following is detailed in a property register (from the Land Registry) of a house we are interested in.
Charges Register
This register contains any charges and other matters
that affect the land.
1 (13.08.2004) REGISTERED CHARGE dated 30 July 2004.
2 (24.10.2007) Proprietor: THE GOVERNOR AND COMPANY OF THE BANK OF......
(The first date is the same date as in the "title absolute" which presumably relates to when it was purchased by the current, registered owners.)
(1) What does this mean?
(2) How might it affect us if we purchased the property?
Any help greatly appreciated. (We realise we could just ask a solicitor but it's the weekend and we are curious!!!!)
Many thanks

It's simply the mortgage that the vendors have on the property and is nothing for you to be worried about. Your solicitor will ensure that the mortgage is removed as part of what he does for you and will also arrange for a new mortgage to be shown in respect of your lender... assuming that you'll be needing a mortgage to buy.If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0

The date in brackets is the priority date i.e. the date the application to register the charge was received at land registry. The date of the charge (when it was signed by the borrower) is 30 July 2004. All normal!0
