Hi Merrylegs1969,
Thanks for letting us know how you got on.
You have made the call, now try to relax. At the end of the day you have your family and, from what you say, you are well on the road to recovery.
Nothing is ever as bad as we build it up to be. I hope things work out for you.
Take care.0 -
Glad you're feeling better, OP - I agree it's easier once you know where you are! Fear can tie us in knots and it's not the end of the world, as you say.

Hello again,
Quick update, on Friday I checked my account fully expecting to find nothing from CTC but, there were two payments, one of £41 (marginally less than normal) and another of £23. I should have thought that if we've been overpaid, as is more likely than not, they'd have suspended all payments.
I shall never manage to get my head around the workings of tax credits.
I did indeed have one, two, or three glasses of vino on Monday night in celebration of having located my spine lol due in no small part to the help I received here, thanks.0 -
Tax credits don't work like that.
It takes ages to get a new award and they only take a small amount a week after that.
They don't suspend payments.
In a few weeks, you will receive a new award with any overpayments on there and an outline of how they will reclaim it.
If it's too much, you can call and ask them to consider lower deductions.0 -

It depends on the figures they based each award on, but may I suggest you start a new thread, so your post is more likely to be seen?0
