Switching Companies, where to start?!

Ok, so im fairly sure that im paying too much for my electricity and gas. Ive been told that what im paying is "average" but im sure i should be below average.

The heatings only on for one hour a day at night (same with hot water), this is gas. My only other gas is my cooker hobs, which i use maybe once every 2 days on average to cook.

My Gas bill is coming to about £46 a month.

For electricity, im on a meter (which i didnt choose, it was just here when i got here) which is costing me somewhere between £10-£20 a week. This seems reasonable to me, even though we never have anything on unless we are in the room using the electricity.

So the Electric bill is about £65-70 a month.

Im not sure how much i should be, nor am i sure if this is even above normal and maybe im just out of my depth!

Could anyone offer any advice towards average prices, best places to look to swap, what info i need to be able to swap ect.

Thanks a lot for your time. :)

Depends on size of property, age of boiler/appliances and degree of insulation.

Not sure how long you have been in the property but you really need to establish what your annual usasge is for both Gas and Electricity in KWH. This should be itemised on your bills.

Once you have a KWH you can then have a look at the comparison websites. Drop in your figures and they will do the rest. energyhelpline is often used quoted on here and gives the same results as the others IMO.

They will let you use £costs but this isn't very accurate.
