Best new current account without switching

Hi,
Can anyone advise on the best current account to open if you're not switching? The banks only seem to offer incentives to switch (I can understand that!) but it makes it quite hard to work out a good account for just opening it from scratch.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

1. First Direct. Exellent service! With some reasonable saving rates.
They really believe they are the best..If you do switch they give you £100 and if (after 6 months I think) you are not happy with them they give you another £100 when you leave. I have never heard of anyone who wanted to leave!. Run a search on the Forum for "First Direct".
2. Co-Op Bank0 -
Halifax Reward account. Pass through £1000 pm and get paid £5, and no need to switchDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

HSBC Current Account (The classic one)
so far no problems
much better than TSB at the moment.• HSBC (Main A/C)
• Halifax Back up A/C
• Lloyds (Spending) A/C
• RBS Back up A/C
• Barclays Old A/C
• Nationwide Old A/C0 -
Thank you. It does look as if Halifax is best as you get £5 a month. All others apart from Santander seem to have 0% interest on credit balances. Am I right?0
