It doesn't seem to me that you stand much chance of paying that back right now and bankruptcy would give you a clean slate and a lot less stress, could you work in the private sector as a bankrupt?

    Hi,
The one thing I'm clinging on to as stable in my life at the minute is my job, with the job market the way it is I doubt I would be able to find another even without being bankrupt on top?

Hi hun, I don't think that was what the person intended - they are saying quite rightly so in my opinion, you've given your all to save this house - let it go, its nothing to you now anyway, not even worth anything and your baby is much more important.

I was involved in your original thread and wondering how on earth you've managed to come through so much. Let it go, you'll have to suffer the consequences and deal with them when you've got a healthy little boy/girl safely delivered :o x

I can understand about your job being something that you want to hang onto, so lots of people who have gone bankrupt work in the public sector what's specifically stopping you?

I had to be financially vetted for my job because of the information I handle at work & the nature of the service I work for, it also says in my contract that they can carry out random financial checks & I am sure they would sack me if I was bankrupt? I dont actually know but wouldn t that be like working for a bank & going bankrupt?

Plenty of people work for banks and go bankrupt, I think it's worth investigating the specifics, do you have a union rep or a friendly manager you could sound out? If it doesn't say in your contract that you aren't allowed to go bankrupt then I think there's a chance it might be all right. Investigate it anyway, also the house auction route because that would at least get northern rock off your back.
