Bank Statements

Hi everyone
I need to supply 3 months bank statements for my mortgage application.
I am having a terrible time trying to get the things to print off a full statement (I am on internet banking)
I do seem to be able to download the transactions to excel however.
If i did this and printed it off would that be accepted by a bank?
It does have the account number and sort code next to the transactions.
I'm seeing my broker tonight with a view to giving him the statements but cant get hold of him to ask what he thinks.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks
Sally-Anne

With my recent application the bank also wanted 3 months statements. They insisted on one proper hard copy (had to request and get posted to me, 10 working days) and would only accept 2 months worth of online print outs. I therefore think you'll really struggle to get them to accept an excel spreadsheet.0

I think it would depend on the bank and what they stipulate. I printed online statements for a mortgage application at HSBC but they wouldn't accept them. When the originals that I ordered didn't turn up I got my bank (Natwest) to print them on their paper and write a covering letter, but HSBC still wouldn't have it, they would only have originals.
If you're not certain I'd order some originals in good time just in case.2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Thanks for the reply.
Also, could someone also advise me on the following?
I printed off my bank statements (to excel) and they show about 13 transactions to online gaming totalling about £400 over 3 months.
In the first of the 3 months i was pretty overdrawn (1,400 in to my 1,600 overdraft). It had been a heavy month of spending the month before! I cleared this overdraft by doing a balance transfer with credit card to bring me back in to the black.
In the second month i then received a £5,000 credit in to my account to clear off my credit cards which are now at zero balance and 1,200 pounds balance.
How will these transactions affect my mortgage application when an underwriter looks at them? The lines for the online gaming do contain the word 'casino'.
What do underwriters look at? I have a steady job of 4 years and regular pay. I do lots of moving in my accounts to put money into higher interest accounts when i can and transfer bakc to keep my account above zero.
Thanks0 -

Yeah, all banks want you to switch to online statements these days. To "save the planet" you see.
But of course when they request you to show them bank statements then they will never accept online statement printouts!
The day I realised that I immediately switched back to paper statements for everything (banks, utilities, phone, etc).
Sorry guys, I will only let you save on printing and postage the day you accept online printouts.

I couldn't agree more.
What is even more ridiculous is that if you DO agree to stop paper statements (thus saving them money) some of the banks then CHARGE you if you subsequently want/need a proper hard copy!

To answer the OP though, there is no way that they will accept a print out from an excel download though, as you could all too easily change any off the figures in the spreadsheet (like removing your gambling entries for example.
).

OP, I would do the following...
1. Go into online banking and get statement, or as much of the statement as possible, on screen.
2. Hold down Ctrl on your keyboard and hit the PrintScreen button on your keyboard (mine's up in the top right near ScrollLock and Pause/Break).
3. Go into Microsoft Word and do a Paste (e.g. hold down Ctrl and hit the V key on your keyboard).
This will paste an image of what you were looking at in online banking.
Go back to online banking and scroll to see the rest of the statement and repeat steps 2 and 3.
Do the same for your other statements.
You can then print your Word document.
This is still a printout from an online source and it may not be accepted. But it is much better than a spreadsheet because you can't (easily) change the words and figures.0 -
Could you not wait a few months until you have no gambling on your statements?0

As to what the statements show, I would assume that you were a gambler. But the fact that you haven't gambled for 2 months is quite positive - it suggests that you are not a total addict.
To me, it all boils down to where the £5000 came from. Was it a gift (or even worse a loan) from, for example, your parents to clear your debts (which may be gambling debts)? If so, this would suggest to me that you were gambling at a time when you were quite seriously in debt. I would be concerned that you might in the future prioritise gambling over mortgage repayments.
If, on the other hand, this was money that was due to you (e.g. a savings account waiting to mature, back-pay, etc) then I think it is not unreasonable that you had spent it before it came in and you were gambling with money that you had spare.
How close are you to getting your next bank statement? If it's close then I'd consider putting it off until then, at which time you wouldn't need to show them the statement that has the gambling transactions on.
I'm not an underwriter and have no idea what they would think. The above is just what I would think.0 -
The 5000 came from my sister owed to me.
I do have a gamble from time to time but the amounts are only for 10 pounds here and there. I may have a slight problem with it but i dont crave it - i only do it if i have spare time and am quite bored.
Next bank statement is a month off.
Regarding the statements, my broker has advised me that he can certify them and send them which is fine.
I just hope that the larger transactions do not affect me badly0
