buyer or seller wrong?

i wont say yet wether we are the seller or buyer
but an item was sold on ebay, a portable dvd player
the listing said it included, a mains power lead, and the av leads to connect it to a larger tv
after it was sold it was left charging overnight, and it wouldn't work
when contacted, the seller states that it needs a battery holder and batteries in order to be battery powered
now the advert never said there was no battery, and stated a mains lead, not a charger, but would you expect a portable dvd player to come with a battery and charger even if not stated in the advert?
the battery holder for this model was an extra, it's a large part that holds aa batteries that you slide the player into, and no i have to admit that part wasn't shown in the picture on the advert

To me, something portable needs a power supply for working on the move, thus the word portable otherwise it is just moveable..ie I can move my compter if I had to and whilst moving it it would be portable but it would be nothing more then a lump of plastic and metal. See what I mean ?
I would expect a charger or battery pack to be honest but then I might have asked before bidding if it was not in the listing or photo just to make sure if I knew that the battery holders was an extra rather then standard.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

Sounds like a tricky one.
You could check the manufacturer's website to see how it was described. If it was described in the same way, and came with what was originally included with the item, then the seller would not be at fault.
Seems odd to have a portable DVD player that cannot be charged. How can rechargeable batteries be sold as an extra?0 -
I think the seller should have made it clear that in order to use it as a portable item, the battery pack was required but was not included.0

Come on then op, you've been online but have gone very quiet. Are you the seller? If you are, we all make mistakes, I've made some great boo boo's in my ebay career.
At the moment I seem to be getting a load of sh*te from buyers for things which arent my fault, such as postal delays. But in the past I've got away with genuine errors that I've kicked myself over.0 -
yes we were the sellers, sorry i forgot to update:o0

If it had been advertised as a portable car dvd player, at least supply with a 12v lead, but portable would mean standalone to me, with the rechargeable battery pack included.0

the thing is, we sold it in the same condition as we bought it, and with all the bits you get with it as new.
next time i will make 100% sure everything is VERY clear0 -
Yes it's difficult to get it right and please everyone all the time. I hope it doesnt turn out too nasty for you.0
