A 2003 Toyota Corolla I recently purchased had the airbag light on, I have taken it to toyota to look at and they have had it for one hour and cant find a problem.
They have told me there is no logs within the airbag ecu and the checked the rear bumper sensors and said these are ok.
They have told me It may take some time to find and to book it in for a whole day, I cant afford hours of main dealer prices as I am out of work at the moment.
I am fairly clued up when it comes to electronics and mechanics so have started to investigate myself.
So far I have cleaned all the connectors under the seat and checked the wiring but still the light is on
Does anyone know of common issues with this system that I can check?
Or further diagnostics that I can do myself?
Thanks in advance.

It's not part of the M.O.T test !!!
As you must know there are connections and sensors all over -inc. under driver's seat on my car.
Ebay -obd2 diagnostics ~ £12 from hong kong , may help.0 -
get a wiring diagram for the vehicle, trace the circuitry and test with a multimeter at indicated points.. you can often find an 'official' service manual on CD to download, and that will contain a full wiring diagram. If all else fails, there's always some eejit on ebay flogging manuals on CDs for £2.
EDIT: There is a full wiring diagram for the 2004 Corolla (E120) - 9th generation Corolla manufactured Nov 2000-
pages 13-14 for SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) i.e. airbags..
