Any views on part exchange?

We're doing up my old house to sell, (currently rent in a different city) it will be ready to be valued after this weekend, we've seen some new build houses in the area we like which offer part exchange, the plan is to get a couple of estate agent valuations before looking at the new houses - if we don't like them, that's the end of the idea! But if we did, then to look at the part ex option before putting the house with an estate agent, we figure that part ex will offer a lower price, but might be worth it if we avoid estate agent fees.

Depends on how much you want for your "old" house and the profit margin in the new one.0

Swings and roundabouts really. Somebody is going to incur the costs of selling your current place and either way, that somebody will be you.0
