That pesky facebook gets everywhere

I noticed today that whilst I am reading an article on the Daily Mail website, at the bottom it shows transferring data from various names and then ends up with saying transferring data from facebook.com.
This is in bottom part of screen where it says done when page loaded.
What is its connection to facebook at this stage?

P.S I have firefox 3.6

I looked at the code of some of the daily mail webpages, and the references to facebook are in there, but it's not entirely clear what they're for. Using educated guesses based on the links I've seen,

    1. There's the opportunity to "like" articles and share them with friends (see the Share section - there's a Facebook option)
    2. Facebook are keeping track of the sorts of things you visit, for targeted ads, and other potentially mischevious reasons
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

Yeah that's what I reckon too.

Although I don't really see why the Daily Mail bother with a 'like' button.

Almost certainly a 'like' (tracking) button - I use all sorts of script blockers and it is scary how many things have facebook's dabs on them. Also look out for fbcdn, and other domains they own...
