Nope. Nobody is entitled to be made redundant. If you really want to leave then you have only one option - resign.

Many at my work place have left on voluntary redundany & I applied twice but as I'm on a career break they've refused me on both occasions. I'm gutted. but I guess as I'm not being paid at the moment its not costing them anything to employ me. I just hope buy the time I do go back they'll have another round going & I'll certainly be submitting my 3rd application!

you can only try & see what happends Good luck!

OH applied and was turned down and then had a series of health issues, so it was all for the best as had he gone contracting then we would have had problems with money whilst he was ill (I was pregnant at the time and not working).
Then last Oct (18 months later) it came up again, but this time it was take it or take a big pay cut (between 5-10k less a year),health wise things are sorted so he took it. Best move ever, had a few months looking for work, but once he got the first contract others followed. He loves it and the money is much better.

I guess what I am saying is sometimes things happen for a reason and if they are doing a round of redunacies now they will likely be more later (especially in public sector work).

    Wait and see, good luck
