Transferring from Eon to Npower but reconsidering

Hi all,
I was just wondering what my options are as I've never transferred to another supplier before. My Fixonline tariff with Eon is coming to an end on 1st July and after looking at the price comparision sites, Npower was the cheapest with a one year fix.
I did the transfer through moneysavingsupermarket (on 30th May) and the only thing I have received so far is an email from Npower asking me to setup my online account.
I've been told some horror stories about Npower and am now considering not switching. As I haven't yet received my welcome pack from Npower or had to give meter readings or my eletricity meter details, what would be the procedure for cancelling the transfer? Eon have been great and it's just a shame that they don't have any decent tariffs at the moment - I don't expect anything for free, but they seem to be one of the most expensive on the market for fixed electricity at the moment.
I still haven't made me mind up what to do, but just wanted to know my options and would appreciate any help.
Thanks
Rob

I am in the same position but just hanging in there for now in the hope that Eon come up with some other tariff for us loyal customers. If not I will probably move to their non contracted for a little while and keep looking. Nothing seems that good ATM compared to what we have been on.0

Hi
I did a price comparison and decided to opt for British Gas over our supplier Eon, but Eon rang and offered and even better tarrif - result £12/month saving!
Hope you get the same service.
SatchmoWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Thanks for the replies. :-)
So do I need to do anything if I want to stop the transfer to Npower? I know that I read somewhere in the T&C's that it said about writing to them, but all them have so far is my address and bank details for setting up a Direct Debit. If I just leave it, will nothing happen and I'll just stay with Eon?0 -
Give Npower a call or at least look through the T&Cs to see what the procedure is to cancel the switch as leaving it will result in you switching to npower.
When i cancelled a switch within 14 days i called the company and they sent a letter confirming cancellation. In Progress!!!0 -
You can also cancel via e-mail at CustomerAcquisitions@npower.com. Unlike their main customer services department they do respond to emails in a reasonable time. I cancelled my transfer yesterday and had a confirmation within a couple of hours.0

Thanks JSR.
I emailed them on the email address you supplied at 9.30 this morning and I have just received an email from them stating that the contract is now cancelled and I will receive confirmation in the post shortly.
Thanks for the pointer on the email address and also well done to Npower for such a quick turn around!
I think that I'm going to wait and see what deals become available over the next few months!0 -

Britisg Gas cancelled obver the phone for me in the cooling off period. As long as you are within the time frame they have to."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Was this just a recalculation of your DDR payment or a genuine discount to a tariff?
If the latter which one?
I opted for BG then decided to call EON, two seperate representatives offered a now discontinued tariff which effectively was the same tariff without such a generous discount. I asked for time to compare when I got back to them I was told it wasn't available.
I have held off till closer to 1/7. I do not expect them to be anywhere near my previous deal, but something similar to competitors, would stop me switching otherwise I might as well take the cashback from someone else.
I really don't understand why they are happy to let customers go it must cost them (us) to play pass the parcel backwards and forwards."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

You can't tell call centre staff they have the option of giving discounts, because they WILL give it. You have to set up a different channel, physically using different people with a different brief.
Also, you only want to retain good cutstomers who pay their bills on time, doesn't submit fake readings, and don't make too much fuss over nothing. A customer service staff doesn't have the time to review your history in real time.0 -

Yep I am used to the retentions stuff with other suppliers - any idea when a light goes on at Eon is it on the 1/7 for FOL8 customers?
And yes I am as good as gold and influence 2 other accounts."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
