You're complaining about a location in the busiest city in Scotland here - your point "A lot of people wouldn't think to format their console before trading it in, not realising what an info goldmine it is for people with less than honest intentions, and Gamestation don't help by lying about clearing this sort of info." is easilly explained. Gamestation's policy was all consoles had to be formated prior to resell, however that doesn't always happen - mistakes can be made, that doesn't mean they're lying about something.
You are right, mistakes can be made, and maybe i shouldn't have said "Gamestation don't help by lying about clearing this sort of info" as it's not Gamestation as a whole but rather individual stores and employees who are guilty of not following procedure.
Gamestation as a company, however, must still take responsibility as they are responsible for ensuring all staff follow these procedures as they are there to protect customers form identity theft and Gamestation from any claims arising out of such an act.
In my case the person i dealt with lied through his teeth about everything and went out of his way to rip me off.
It was as if he wanted to rip me off and that was it. When i prevented this from happening it was like he couldn't stand being denied.
neil and missarrahleigh, i agree totally with what your saying.
As i said in an earlier post i had been in the sales industry for years, not retail, but Call Centre on various contracts, door-to-door on various contracts, from British Gas to Charity Fundraising.
I've ran teams and campaigns for numerous different contracts and the one thing i tried to put across to any agents in my team was always respect the customer and act with integrity at all times.
If that means realising you could get a sale by lying, feeding a customer complete BS, don't.
Just let it go, move on to the next one, and up your game.
While that guy was everything i loathe about someone who works in sales, and would have canned him in a second if he had worked for me, i am softie really!
I hate to see someone in trouble, weather of there own making or not, but i hate to see people being ripped off even more!
So while i feel slightly bad for the guy if he loses his job, tough.
He should have thought of that while he was ripping of his customers.0
