Deposit paid for car, now price has increased
I saw a car on the internet through a Ford dealer. It was 200 miles away so I contacted the company by phone and they said they would hold the car for me until I could go and see it this Saturday - I paid a refundable deposit of £250.
I spoke to the dealer today and everything was fine. However I got a phone call this afternoon saying the car was incorrectly priced and should have been £800 more, so it has been withdrawn from the market.
Can they do this? Any advice would be welcome.

Yes they can I would have thought so as its only an invitation to purchase and its a refundable deposit, it was advertised on the internet and i'm sure if you check the terms and conditions on the site it would say about errors and omissions being accepted etc. A good business though will try and reach an agreement rather than loose a high value sale. Not sure what the total value was but if you seriously still want and can afford see if they will meet halfway.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

The car I was going to buy was originally (and still) advertised at £7166. They want to increas it to just over £7900.
They are also advertising the same spec cars for very similar prices.
I wont negotiate on the car, as I wont deal with dodgy traders!
By the way, I dont know if I can name and shame but it is Evans Halshaw!0 -

If you can get the car for the same money (original price) elsewhere I would do that, but if they are still offering it cheaper than everywhere else I would try and work a deal, but the deal would have to be good for me to still use them.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

I have already said I want my money back and they agreed it without argument.
Im just very peed off that they have wasted my time and energy - I could have been looking at reputable sites.
I have made a complaint to their head office, Consumer Direct and Advertising Standards Agency0 -
Sending an email to head office won't make much difference to be honest other than to help you vent lol. Legally they can do it as its only an internet advertised price, no different if it was marked up for £10, if it was a genuine mistake they aren't obliged to continue with the deal. TBH though £800 at that price wouldn't have made much difference to them other than the fact they have now lost a sale.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

My issue is they are still advertising the car at the 'incorrect' price and have at least 5 other same spec cars for a very similar price to the incorrect price - it makes me think it isnt an error, its a wasy of getting people hooked to then con more money out of them!0
