Scrapping car - best way to do it...?

Hi,
Am posting on behalf of a friend who is going to scrap their car for various reasons - short story is that he can't afford to get it fixed (possible exhaust problem) or insure a car he can't drive. With the law about to change with regard to uninsured vehicles, scrapping seems to be the best option. Any ideas as to how to get the most for it? In Kent if that makes a difference.
Thanks :-)

Depends what it is.
Say £150 for the car if it is a decent size.
If you can get a towing dolly (something to get at least the front wheels off the ground) then you'll get more than if someone has to come and collect it I'm sure.
Still, given the value, unless he really really really needs the money, just see what prices local places give for collection.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

If he has the space to keep it somewhere private he could break it for spares, Most cars will fetch at least £1k broken for spares, Sell all the bits on ebay, Thats the highest value way but again needs to be stored on private property :-DI dont have to show riches, To pull up, Pull of with some bad b*tches, It's about my persona, Aint nothing like a man that can do what he wanna0

unfortunately in this country (blighty) this can be a problem because you need a destruction certificate or you will have to sign sorn into perpetuity and even hand it down to the kids in your will if you break this car yourself because you cant break the spell once youve cut the car up
the most important thing to do OP is make sure whatever happens to the car then attention to paperwork detail is more important than a small bag of gold
for this end do not let a scrapman take it away without making him sign the tranfers bit top right of the logbook and personally posting it or otherwise this car might never see a crusher and is going to get used as a pool car by the local burglars
ideally weigh it in at a weighbridge that accepts end of life vehicles you get paid by the tonne and you get an electronically transmitted destruction certificate as they count you the readies from the dvl -a,
make sure you take log book and identification with you to prove its yours to sell

If all it needs is an exhaust repair, why not ebay it as a runner with slight fault. Things like holes in exhausts can easily be welded-up or patched-up with gun-gum or similar.Never Knowingly Understood.
