I need some advice please girls (and boys!)
I'm getting married in 12 months, and i'm not sure when to send the invites. The issue is that most of the guests will be coming from Northern Ireland, Canada, America and Portugal. As they will need to make travel arrangements and take time off from work, when do you think is the best time to send the invites out???

People say 3 months before - but if you have invites to send abroad I would send them a little earlier to ensure they receive them on time.0

I'd let people know ASAP about the date and location, and give them information on places to stay, etc (set up a wedsite for this), then send the invites nearer the time. I've heard a lot about people sending invites months and months in advance and people not replying, either due to not being sure that far in advance whether they can make it, or just because the invite gets put in a 'to do later' pile and forgotten about!
Maybe send the actual invites 3-4 months before, and a little earlier to those coming from abroad?

I'm not doing any save the dates, to allow me to spend a little more on the actual invites. I guess I could do a facebook thing although it's a little naff...I quite like the website idea though, but i have no idea how to set one up!:oGetting married 23rd June 2012!!:o0

I'm not doing save the dates either, for the same reason! We're justletting people know verbally as and whenand will get parents to inform extened family - we do have friends coming from Australia who we've informed of the date already as early bird flight deals are released about 9 months in advance I think.
Google 'wedsite' (note the 'd' instead ofa 'b')and you will find a few! Some charge, some don't, and obviously some willsuit your purposes better than others. There is a thread somewhere on here discussing them as well.
Dagnamit, my space bar is not working very well!!!

Can't seem to find the thread, and I haven't got to the stageof setting one up myself yet. Try posting a thread asking which ones people would recommend.
