Old credit card details help with PPI

Hi, I'm looking for help in obtaining credit card details for my wife so that she could possibly claim back PPI.

About 8 years ago she had ran up £46000 of debt on various credit cards and finally it got too much and she told me. Most if not all the cards had PPI on them and when I questioned her about it she said she didn't know she had it.
I used my life savings to clear the debt over a couple of months and she has been banned from credit cards since then.
The cards were cut up and destroyed so we don't have any record of the account numbers.

My questions are:

1) If we had the card numbers can we claim for the PPI after 8 years or is there a time limit.
2) Is there anyway of obtaining the details of which companies she had cards with and the relevant card numbers to allow us to claim.
3)Assuming questions 1+2 are positive what would be the best way to start a claim.

Hi there, you may have trouble with these as they are from 8 years ago, having said that, people have won with ppi mis sell from the 90s.

When did you clear the balances?

If you have no proof of the accounts they may be able to find you from your address, this is tricky though, unless you cleared these within the last 6 years.

If you have reasons for mis sell then put a claim in and when you get a response please post on here.
They may not be able to trace these accounts but you never know.

Hi Amersall, I cleared the balances about 8 years ago.

The trouble is that apart from one card, we can't remember who the other cards were with so it's a catch 22 until we can find out this information.

I don't suppose this sort of information would be kept on my wife's credit record would it?

I am not sure, but it may still be on your credit file, take a look and you may get lucky!.
