auction wrecker

I'm trying to sell my motorola L6 phone bought through the recent O2 offer but the following ebay user has bid on it:

http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=mojotoddart123

Ive cancelled the bid he made (which showed up as £999!! so obviously a joker). It looks like someone has hijacked the account as has 323 rating but all action stopped in Oct 05 until 2 bids today on other phones.

Is there anyway of stopping him bidding on my auction as it ends in an hr and Im concerned hes gonna do it again right at the end!

Any ideas?

  • It looks like a scammer to me who has hijacked an account. Simply enter this buyers id into your blocked bidders account to stop further bidding,no doubt he will be struck off by ebay but best you notify them asap.
  • Thanks for that, Ive blocked his Id now and sent ebay a message.

Just been having a look through the selling preferences trying to see if there is a way of blocking any bidders with a new account just opened (as Im concerned he may just register new account and re-bid), is there any way of doing this as I cant see it?

I think I saw your item this evening!

    Unless he's wrecking another auction.

Did the phone finish at £2049???

  • No, I managed to cancel his bid of £999 and block him from bidding and my phone went for a decent £46 in the end.

He had bid £1999 on another phone earlier today though, I really dont see how someone gets any fun out of doing it but it takes all sorts I suppose!
  • If you contact eBay they can block his ISP which will prevent the moron from enjoying his perverse sense of humour.....as well as causing havoc to the poor person who's had their account hijacked.

I think you were looking at mine...I am soooo annoyed :( Bidding was going quite well for me until the *bleep* bid £3049 near the end and so my ebay fees are approx £64!! Obviously the auction has finished and so I cannot cancel/retract the innappropriate bid, can anyone suggest what I can do againt the seller? I have sent a second chance offer to the 2nd highest (realistic) bidder although I don't know if s/he'll want it anymore... :( grrr

For an auction to reach £3049, wouldn't there have to be two people bidding stupid amounts, or am I missing something?

I wondered that myself, how could the amount reach that level if others werent bidding high figures too....they would have to be biddng against at least one other.

If they have hijacked one account, then why not 2 ??? They were most likely bidding with 2 accounts to push it that high. Sigh!!!

These people make me SSSOOOOoooo mad, my Mum is disabled and unable to work, so she started selling things on ebay, until some watname nicked her account and nearly frightened her to death, by bidding on items using her account like has happened to you. She was out fo the country for a week.
Think ebay should be able to track these people and sue them for damages.
