After reading post above I finally bought a VGA cable to connect PC to TV. The cable I bought doesn’t fit though, and I seem to be stuck again.

Below are the ports I have on my system Ports and Connectors

    Externally accessible:

    Serial
    9-pin connector; 16550C-compatible

    Parallel
    25-hole connector (bidirectional)

    Keyboard
    6-pin mini-DIN connector

    Mouse
    6-pin mini-DIN connector

    USB
two front-panel and six back-panel USB 2.0–compliant connectors

    Network
    RJ-45 connector

    Audio
Five back miniature connectors for line-in, line-out, microphone, surround and center/Low-Frequency Effects (LFE) channel

    Headphone
one front miniature connector for line-out

Can any one recommend the best course of action to connect my dell dimension 4600 to my Tosh 37wlt66 LCD?

    Thanks

    Hi

You need a VGA cable from the 4th slot http://www.dell.com/html/us/segments/dimension/3dmodels/4600.html if this is how the rear of your pc looks ? ( select rear and zoom - hover mouse - it will say "video connector" You need a male end on this end of your cable.

The other end should fit on the 15 pin Video hole javascript:openConnection('lcdplasma-lcdfreeview-37wlt66','lcdplasma-lcdfreeview') If there are holes here too you need a male end as well - if there are pins on the tv you need a female cable. I cannot tell from the grahic if there are holes or pins HTH

Page 7 of the manual give the toshiba line on how to javascript:openExternalLink('Manuals', '/consumer/information.nsf/manuals/37WLT66/$file/37WLT66_OM.PDF?openelement', '_blank', '', 'resizable, status', 'Owners Manual for 37WLT66' ); Click "Owners Manual " to view
Connect the PC cable from the computer to the PC
terminal on the back of the television.
Connect the audio cable to the PC/HDMI1 Audio
socket on the back of the television. Select PC from the
PC/HDMI1 audio options in the AV connection
menu located in the SET UP menu.
Press the Bto select PC mode.
The following signals can be displayed:
    VGA: 640 x 480/60 Hz (VESA)
    SVGA: 800 x 600/60 Hz (VESA)
    XGA: 1024 x 768/60 Hz (VESA)
    SXGA: 1280 x 1024/60 Hz (VESA)
IMPORTANT NOTE: SXGA will display but it will
    not be to VESA standard.
    PLEASE NOTE:
Some PC models cannot be connected to this
    television.
An adaptor is not needed for computers with a DOS/V
compatible mini D-sub 15 pin terminal.
A band may appear at the edges of the screen or parts
of the picture may be obscured. This is due to scaling
of the picture by the set, it is not a malfunction.
When PC input mode is selected some of the
television’s features will be unavailable e.g. Manual
setting in the SET UP menu, Colour, Tint, DNR and
Black Stretch in the Picture settings menu.

The video connector is where you plug your monitor into - it should be blue unless you have recently fitted a DVI interfaced graphics card, in which case it will be white with 4 holes arranged in a square 2x2 and then three rows of many more holes - you will need a DVI to VGA adapter - it may have come with the card ...

or one of these for 15 quid - no doubt cheaper else where - but that is all you need if you have DVI port on pc and not a VGA - it says so in the Tosh manual and you may even have a free one from the card manufacturer - still sitting in the box ...
