    Just an update. I have managed to insure my home (in my mum's name) with Aviva. Ended up giving them a call and they were really helpful. Got the insurance in the end, with contents included, for half the price it would have cost to get landlords insurance.

    They have not been that helpful as the contents policy is worthless as it will not pay out. You cannot insure your contents in your mothers name as she has no insurable interest in them eg she does not ow them.

    Do yourself a favour and ring them back to sort it out
