Does anyone know if there are any bank accounts in Sterling, suitable for French nationals, non-resident in the UK?
It is for personal use during visits to UK.
A cheque book is not necessary but the account need to have a debit card for ATMs in the UK and be able to make & receive GBP payments online.
Thanx

You should be able to open a basic account at any bank - if you have a UK address.
If you don't then you may have to open an account 'overseas' ie offshore - google any british bank for details.0 -
This is exactly why offshore accounts exist. Try Jersey/Guernsey.0

which bank in Jersey/Guernsey?Loughton_Monkey wrote: »This is exactly why offshore accounts exist. Try Jersey/Guernsey.
got any links?!
Also, charges, if any, should be reasonable; unlike offshore/international accounts by Barclays and HSBC that require £24,000 minmum balance and make charges on top.

Surely an ethical bank like the Co-op can help? Try their Guernsey branch.

Here's a couple of offshore websites. Hope they're helpful too.

Thanks for the links. I don't know if I read it right but with Lloyds/TSB require new customers to deposit at least £25,000. And they make many charges too.
But the NatWest Offshore looks promising
Will give them a call in the morning.
Cheers!0
