Is this normal?

I decided 10 years ago that staying in this house was not a good long term prospect. Life intervened and I am finally making that move.:)
I am leaving a 5 bed detached on a hill with no shops and a poor bus service for a retirement flat where it is flat and there is a decent grocery shop withing walking distance.:)

With one week to go I started notifying everyone of my new address and telephone number and apart from the pain:( with credit card companies making me jump through identification hoops all was going well - until I notified my car insurer.

It seems that in the postcode area I am moving too this company will not insure any car which is not garaged! I am moving into a retirement complex built round a cul-de-sac. Cars are parked in the centre and there are no garages. What is the problem?

My current insurance runs until 22 nd August but from the 9 th June I will have to find a new one. I could do without this hassle right now.:(

Has anyone else had this problem?

no, but it does happen for high risk areas. Will they not even keep it on until renewal. Is it gated in any way?

Probably because of all the bumps the oldies have when trying to reverse to park, etc ;)

I expect someone will insure your car - perhaps at a premium. Where are you moving?

Why not have a word with some of the other people living there to see what insurers they use.
