hi i have written to studio cards and recieved this reply today,
They have investigated and they do not uphold the complaint. they are saying that the policy was selected via a tick box on a order form, when a written order was submitted in 2002, they state terms and conditions were sent also!!! they are unable to refund any backdated charges, however as a gesture of good will they will deduct last month's payment!!! correct me if im wrong but isnt this saying i am right, they have now cancelled the policy. They have enclosed a leaflet to go to Ombudsman. i do not feel i would have selected this protection on a credit limit off £100!!! can anyone advise me if there is a next step please, thanks in advance

no. they are saying that you selected to have it.i do not feel i would have selected this protection on a credit limit off £100
Seems fairly straight foward. If you only recently applied for the card and have only been paying PPI for a couple of months then your story sounds plausible and you would expect the PPI to be voided and refunded. However, the further back you go in time, the less plausible your story becomes and the more likely a complaint would be rejected.
Seeing as they can provide evidence of how you choose to have it, then you can only make a balance of probability decision on this and seeing as it was nearly a decade ago, your story doesnt sound that plausible.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. I too believe I have been mis-sold PPI from Studio cards, I called them up on Sunday to be informed that I did indeed have PPI and that I asked them to apply it during a telephone call! There is no chance that I would have taken it up during a cold call as I do not give cold callers the time of day and I also would not have taken it on suh a small balance!!
Pursue it onto the Ombudsman as I know I will have to when reclaiming what is rightfully mine!0 -

I have also recently complained to ACE (part of the Studio group) and got EXACTLY the same response... i.e. that I requested the PPI on a written order form in 2003. As far as I'm aware, I have NEVER sent them a written order form and have always ordered online via their website. The fact that they can't provide a copy of the order form is slightly suspicious - apparently they have never kept copies!!!!
Their response to me was exactly the same as you - they cancelled the policy and refunded me the last months' payment as a gesture of goodwill.
I do believe this is a "fobbing off" response and I WILL be forwarding my complaint to the Ombudsman.0 -
I went to a no win no fee company and got ALL my money back!! £599. They refunded ALL the charges, cleared my account AND sent me a cheque for £299!
I'd seriously do it.
I Hate them, robbing frikkers!

The company was called Belmont Thornton that got my money. I had to pay their fee of £180 but I didn't care as it was principle more than anything, Studio !!!!ed me about for two YEARS!!!0

At £599 they probably decided that it was cheaper to pay out than argue the toss!0
