Switching a joint account to 2 individual accounts

Hi,
How do I go about finding the best deal when changing from a joint account to 2 individual current accounts? The Santander Preferred Current which is the one I was going to go for says you can't access the offer if this is what you're doing. Is this common across most banks?
Any tips?
Thanks!

I can only speak for the bank I work for........ We cannot change joint accounts to sole accounts, we require the joint a/c to be closed and new sole a/c's to be opened.
As for any offers, you would not be eligible for anything which is for 'new clients only' but would be eligible for ongoing, standard offers. Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!0 -
I think LTSB will let you split a joint to sole (the other party can then open a separate account) but only if the account is in credit.0

If that's their rule, that's their rule. I'd probably open a new account each, then close the joint one, or leave it open and unused if you're expecting any credits to come into it, then transfer these credits to whoever they're meant for.ibizachica wrote: »Hi,
